Now that I can think a little clearer.
I hope I don’t seem dumb or ignorant…
But I am really, really, truly curious…
Why is Tahno white…
He’s a water bender…which means he is descended from one of the water tribes, even if he isn’t from the water tribes himself…but he’s so…not…Inuit. At all. I just really don’t understand because he’s the only water bender I recall seeing in either show that is so pale.I still like Tahno…
He just confuses my brain…

Republic City’s very ethnically intermingled from what we’ve seen so far, it’s probable that Tahno is mixed-race. If I had to guess I’d say Earth Kingdom/Water Tribes, he has the Earth Kingdom’s pale skin and black hair, but the Water Tribe’s element and blue eyes (mixed with a bit of gray from the Earth Kingdom as well). Could also just be an artistic choice, it sets him apart from other water benders and gives him that cool, slightly creepy look we all love.
